Today my friends, I would like to discuss global warming and some of the ways we can help prevent the ongoing changes in our climate. Many scientist believe that global warming is one of the biggest dangers that we have to deal with in our world today. So let’s talk about how we can conserve energy and make some change in your daily life.

Global warming can be truly disastrous and harmful, and the impact can be worse than a nuclear war. It is of vital importance that all of us to realize the impact of taking preventive measures against global warming.

Global warming is not all about constant rise in temperature but it’s also about steady changes of our natural habitat. Our ecosystem will heavily change and it’s doubtful how most animals can cop up with such huge changes. There are high chances that our ecosystem will be damaged forever, causing serious threat to humans.

Some simple steps that anyone can initiate:

1. Try walking of riding a bicycle:

  • A major contribution to the global warming is coming from carbon monoxide.
  • An average automobile emits around 20 pounds of CO2 in air, when 1 gallon of gas is burnt!
  • Using your car less can make a big difference. Use a bicycle or try walking when possible – it’s good for the environment and great exercise.
  • By minimizing the use of your car, you fight against global warming but also with the soaring gas prices it can help you save lots of money. We all like that idea!

2. Try Gardening:

  • If you have a yard, try planting some vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers whatever fits your fancy.
  • It can be fun, save on your food budget, eating homemade vegetables  are much healthier for you.
  • you are avoiding the polluted pesticides that are on so many store-bought vegetable. Just because they might look good in the store doesn’t mean they are good for you.
  • you have also help to eliminate the toxic pesticides that contribute to global warming if you need any pest control try making you own natural pesticides.

3. Promote recycled products and organic food in your family:

  • Recycling can help us avoid dangerous chemicals, help stop the already overloaded waste in the landfills.
  • Eating organic has a substantial effect on your health and our environment. You are not polluting your body with toxic chemicals and you are helping the environment from the toxic pesticides, herbicides, and greenhouses gases.

4. Make sure that your home is energy conserving:

Many of our homes use extensive amounts of  energy from our air conditioners and room heaters throughout the year just because our home is not energy conserving.

Some useful ideas to help conserve energy:

  • Set your thermostat as low as is comfortable in the winter and as high as is comfortable in the summer, as well as when you’re sleeping or away from home.
  • Clean or replace filters on furnaces and air conditioners as recommended.
  • Clean warm-air registers, baseboard heaters, and radiators as needed – make sure they’re not blocked by objects such as furniture, carpeting, or drapes.
  • Eliminate trapped air from hot-water radiators once or twice a season; if you are not sure how to perform this task, contact a professional.
  • Place heat-resistant radiator reflectors between exterior walls and the radiators.
  • During winter, keep the draperies and shades on your south-facing windows open during the day to allow the sunlight to enter your home and closed at night to reduce the chill you may feel from cold windows.
  • In the summer, block the sun’s heat by keeping the window coverings closed during the day.

If your home can preserve energy, you will be surprised by the amount of energy you can save. Not only that you’re helping the nature, your energy bills will become significantly lower.

5. Conserve energy:

  • change all your electric bulbs to energy-efficient ones.
  • you can also use the same strategy on your home appliances – According to the EPA — buy ENERGY STAR appliances over their lifetime can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 130,000 pounds and save and save you $11,000 on energy bills.
  • Products with the ENERGY STAR label includes more than 60 kinds of products, including appliances, lighting, heating and cooling equipment, electronics, and office equipment.

I agree that this  sounds like an expensive deal in the beginning but in the long run it will it will be well worth the expense by the amount of energy these products can save you.

These are five simple tips that will help you fight global warming. Global warming is one of the biggest dangers that our generation has to deal. If every individual is acting sensibly, and doing their part in making positive changes daily then we will be able to succeed in our quest in to reduce the environment impact and global warming effects.
